, great packaging
I used to always use liquid foundation but eventually got tired of that heavy 'makeupy' feeling on my face all day and decided to give this a go. I appreciate that Alima uses only pure minerals and no additives or fillers. I can use it as a concealer on blemishes and under my eyes with a concealer brush, use a kabuki brush for foundation coverage, or use a big powder brush to dust some on and eliminate shine. I have been using my jar for over 4 months and I still have a TON of product left, which makes it a great value for me. Also, really great shade variety!

good coverage, but messy
April 3, 2013
im not sure if i would buy this again...i was pleasantly surprised at how well it evened out my skin and it matches skin tone well. however, the loose powder gets EVERYWHERE and if you don't blend extremely well, you'll find a little loose-powder look sitting on top of your skin. I would use an extremely light touch when applying. And don't wear anything white while you apply, because loose powder will likely fall on your clothes, unless you tap or blow it off the brush first, in which case it will be all over the mirror/counter/floor.

Great foundation
January 4, 2013
I bought this foundation in Almond shade. I like it because it pretty match with my skin tone (Asian medium tone) and it is pure and not harm my skin like others. My skin type is oily so it helps to reduce the oily looking on my face. The Cons are it didn't cover 100%, you will need concealor to cover dark spot or acne. And you will need to re-apply every 3-4 hours.

I love this foundation!
December 19, 2012
I was a bit skeptical when I received this, as the container looked tiny, but it has lasted a long time! I agree with some reviews that the colors run a little light so I've been mixing it (wheat) with some left over summer foundation and has been working well for me.
The coverage is amazing. I have a lot of acne scars on my chin from my crazy hormonal days and this foundation covers most of them without the need for concealer.
I found that it goes best when applied in layers. I have no complaints with this foundation, the price is right and the ingredients list is clean.

great foundation
December 7, 2012
I really like this foundation. I feel like the colors run a little light though. I use it over my liquid mineral foundation and use a flat top foundation brush to get full coverage. Its best to do several lighter applications to achieve the coverage you want. It also lasts for at least twelve hours. It doesn't look like you are wearing makeup.

Great Coverage!
December 7, 2012
Pros: Great Coverage
, Smooth
Cons: Messy
I love this foundation. Although it's a powder it goes on smooth and does a great job of covering the redness through my nose and cheeks. I tend to have combination skin and the matte factor helps keep the oil in my T-zone at bay and doesn't make my dry cheeks look cakey. The only con would be that it can get everywhere since it's a powder. I would recommend!

Finally! My HG foundation!
December 6, 2012
Pros: color selection
, staying power
, ingredients
, easy to use
The selling point for me when I chose to try this foundation was the ingredients list - no bismuth oxychloride, which makes my face red and itchy, no lauroyl lysine or other coconut derivatives, which clog my pores and break me out like crazy and really nothing but minerals. Exactly what I was looking for. I am also really impressed by the color selection and would be surprised if they don't make a great match for everyone. I ended up choosing Cool 2.
So, I applied my new foundation with my favorite flat-top kabuki brush. The first thing I noticed was that it was an absolutely perfect match for my skin which is a first for me. The container allows a lot of control over how much product you shake out of the sifter and the powder applies easily and blends well. On top of totally dry skin, I still got the powdery look most powder foundations give me, so I tried applying while my moisturizer hadn't quite finished soaking in and it was perfect - exactly what "satin matte" should be; not shiny, just a bit dewy. I found that with either application method I could layer anywhere from a light dusting to multiple coats and get exactly the coverage I wanted from ultra-light to completely full coverage.
As for staying power, this foundation has the best of any mineral foundation I've ever tried and even beats many liquid and cream foundations in the longevity arena. With no primer or setting powder, I didn't have to touch up until about 5 hours into my work shift, and even then it was just a couple spots where my skin is most prone to oiliness and redness that needed any help. With a primer underneath (I usually just use a bit of aloe but have also tried this foundation over samples of other primers), a setting powder on top and a quick spritz of hydrosol to finish the whole look, I didn't need to touch up at all. Seriously, not even once from application to removing my makeup before bed.
I imagine it goes without saying, but Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation gets a full 5 lippies from me. I would recommend it to anyone and feel pretty certain you'll find a great color match and love this stuff as much as I do.

Performs Well
November 17, 2012
Pros: Great Price
, Lots of Shades
Cons: Cheap Packaging
I almost never wear full face foundation. I usually use this to conceal red areas (nose, chin, forehead) and to spot conceal blemishes. It works very well and lasts all day. It can be drying if used heavily or on dryer areas of the face. The packaging is plastic and the lid can crack if you carry it in a cosmetic bag with a lot of other stuff. Overall, a great product that I will buy again.

Love!
October 14, 2012
This reminds me a little of the bare minerals foundation that I used to use, but its so much better! When I'm battling breakouts, this is the only foundation I can use. Its very quick and easy to use, blends flawlessly, looks natural. If you like powder foundations, this is the one!

Works great and no skin reaction!
September 22, 2012
Pros: Great shades, easy to find perfect match
, Pure ingredients- no fillers or irritants
, sun protection
, great packaging
This stuff is amazing, and a great alternative to bare minerals. I love that they have (nearly) a million colors to choose from. And I LOVE that spirit beauty gives you samples with your purchase so that you can try without opening your purchase in case you need to make a return. And because the ingredients are so simple and mild, no skin reactions or pore clogging.

Can get too powdery
September 6, 2012
Pros: blends very well
, lasts really long!
, doesn't break me out
, good price
Cons: can look powdery if you use too much
Works great for me! But only at a minimum, I notice that too much can leave your face looking powdery. This is great for the price it is though, if you're on a budget consider buying this foundation.

Not good in hot environments
September 5, 2012
Pros: clean ingredient list
Cons: chalky finish
, doesn't hold up well in heat
I really, really wanted to like this foundation but unfortunately it's not right for me. There are mixed reviews on here so far, but I found it to have a chalky looking finish on my skin. And it was a disaster when I went outside. It's very hot and humid where I live so I don't think this holds up well in that type of weather (I was wearing primer too). If you live in a cool, non humid place it might be a good purchase. I do like the ingredients list, and wish it worked for me!

not the finish I was expecting
August 20, 2012
I was hoping to achieve more of a matte look with this powder. Instead, it was kinda too glowy and shiny for my taste. Also, the lid is too small to swirl your brush into it and pick up powder evenly. I like that there's only (color) and nothing more in here though.

The best natural foundation
August 14, 2012
I am a fan of this foundation. The colors on the Spirit Beauty Lounge website confuse me because they don't correspond to the color names on the Alima Pure website. For example, I know at the Alima website, my color is Neutral 3 but I don't know how it corresponds at SBL. Pros: even coverage and covers redness, doesn't emphasize pores if you use a primer or moisturizer underneath, doesn't cause acne (and actually caused my skin to clear up I think!), pure and safe ingredients. Cons: not as long lasting as liquid foundation, can be itchy and a bit chalky if you get the wrong color, messy to apply.

Meh...
August 8, 2012
Cons: Looks ashy once applied
I had high hopes for this foundation but after trying it a couple times I have to say I'm not a fan. When I wear it my face looks really ashy, almost like I rubbed chalk all over my face. I've heard that mineral makeup sometimes has a tendency to do this, so I guess it's something that comes with the territory. Alas, I the search continues for an amazing clean foundation...

Good coverage and staying power
July 28, 2012
This is a good mineral foundation that gives good coverage and I found it to have good staying power. However I found it to be a bit itchy( I think that I might be allergic to titanium dioxide) But that aside this is a good foundation for those looking for a mineral powder foundation.

Great coverage and huge color selection
July 26, 2012
I alternate between this and RMS beauty's un-cover up for foundation, and I find that this conceals better for me with blemishes when I use a firm concealer brush, but when it comes to humidity and sweating, it doesn't mix too well with my sweat and melts a bit, but otherwise I love it. Looks very natural, and the color range is enormous! Can't go wrong.

Great foundation.
July 24, 2012
Pros: Light
, Gentle
, Good coverage
This foundation offers so many options to give your skin a great match. Before switching to Alima Pure, I always had a difficult time finding a foundation that matched my fair skin. I wear the color "shell" in Alima Pure foundations and it is a perfect match!
The foundation goes on lightly and blends in flawlessly. It really looks like you are wearing no foundation at all. It is also gentle enough for my sensitive skin.
This product lasts a long time.

The best mineral foundation
July 24, 2012
I am officially done looking for foundation because this is great! It is pure, safe, and doesn’t clog my pores. I have acne and I don’t feel like this makes it any worse. They have so many options that I found my perfect color which matches my natural skin flawlessly. However, it would be nice if I could get a fuller coverage with it due to my acne. I would still rather have this foundation which doesn’t cause me to break out further than another foundation that provides heavier coverage.

Best foundation!
July 23, 2012
Pros: light
, fragrance free
, great coverage
, can be layered for extra coverage
I LOVE this foundation. They have such variety I can't imagine someone wouldn't be able to find a match. Although, I wish that what was carried at SBL was named the same as on the Alima website. I'm an Olive 1 and have no idea what that corresponds to here. As with all mineral makeup, be sure to properly moisturize ahead of time and use good brushes - both critical factors in successful use. Alima makes concealers too, but I find that just the foundation applied with a small, firm brush is the best concealer. Then I use a kabuki style brush to put it on all over. It feels perfectly light and I don't notice it's on all day, but it does last and really sinks in to become a part of the skin.

Great Product! Mulit-purpose, breathable and comfortable.
Can be used lightly to dust over concealer, layered to provide more coverage or even worked into the crease of your eye over cream eyeshadow to prevent creasing. As a note, I never use this under my eyes whilst wearing concealer - I do not like to wear powder in that area.
This is the finishing step for my makeup routine before a light misting with a floral water or toner.
Wish Alima made a pressed powder compact with a cute little brush so that I could tuck it into my purse!

Alima Pure is the best mineral makeup I've found. No cornstarch in the ingredient list means it doesn't make me break out! Color matching can be a bit tricky...I recommend Spirit's sample kit, get a few colors near to yours, then blend at home until you find your perfect mix. I often blend 2 colors to get just the right tone for my skin. For my very fair neutral toned skin I like Magnolia, with a touch of straw thrown in for summertime. I found Gardenia to be a bit too cool for my complexion, it left me looking waxen. I recommend application with Alima's Foundation Brush; it provides really nice even, soft blending.
