This stuff does, of course, smell insect-repellent-y, but it is at least a fairly balanced scent of its kind. It does actually settle down a bit after application, and it doesn't give me a headache (as many others do).
I also appreciate that it isn't too oily and that the fine spray works well. My other go-to natural bug repeller is Jao's Patio Oil, and while that will certainly keep the suckers away from your legs at the cookout, I find it too greasy to want to use it all the time/everywhere. This is more user-friendly/fast drying.
Bonus: Cutest label on earth. Pull it out as soon as the bugs make an appearance, and everyone will ask where you got it/if they can use some. This has the effect of cutting down the proportion of nasty chemical bug spray in your personal airspace. Excellent.
