Irina started Phoenix Botanicals in 2005 after she apprenticed 3 years with NY herbalist Robin Rose Bennett, learned with several other herbalists and naturalists, and worked over 2 years at NY's Flower Power Herbs & Roots. Plants have a lot to teach when we pay attention! Working in ethnobotany research also exposed her to many cultural and therapeutic uses of plants. Living in Brooklyn, she loves taking trips to the wild.
The name Phoenix has two inspirations: The feeling of being reborn while spending time in nature- like a Phoenix. And a pet cockatiel of the same name. Phoenix is the CEO- he literally oversees the operations, adding his whistles and bird magic to the mix.
