Minerals, like zinc oxide, provide broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) protection and soothing chamomile extract helps comfort skin exposed to the elements.
Made to Stay Put When You Don't. Durable barrier waxes and strong botanical integration with skin means excellent durability. Solar to Polar Ultra keeps up with the most active lifestyles.

Get your water by the glass, not the tube. Water is topically drying and is a breeding ground for bacteria. It's also the most common ingredient in sun care. You won't find water or other cheap fillers in Vive Sana Solar to Polar Ultra. Every ingredient directly benefits skin.
A Little Goes A Long Way. Since Vive Sana Solar to Polar Ultra isn't diluted, you will find yourself using less than you're used to. Don't let the size fool you! One tube could last a whole summer.
2.25 oz.
Bottom line....it works. But it is very thick when initially applying, turns you white, and doesn't absorb very quickly. It's a little difficult to apply. Once you get it on though, and give it a few minutes, it soaks in and works great! I'm honestly on the fence. I really want to like it...maybe I'll keep working with it.

Too thick and greasy
January 9, 2013
This is a very thick and oily/waxy waterless sunscreen. I did not like using it on my dry skin in summer, it is just too greasy. It might be ok in winter on a ski slope. I think this also contains nano zinc.

BAD if you really sweat during outdoor workouts
December 29, 2012
Cons: Peels off
, Sweats off in white rivers
, Waxy
This review is late, sorry. This past summer, I went for a run in 80 degree Boston humidity, and this sunscreen was horrible. I followed the directions (thin layer, check), and let it sink in for almost 45 minutes before taking off for my run. About 3 miles in, I stopped at the bathrooms by the Hatch Shell (on the Charles) and was floored when I looked in the mirror. I had white rivers running down my face and legs! Not exaggerating...RIVERS. I was so into my run I hadn't noticed. So in order to avoid a sunburn, I had to endure my clown-like body for the 3 miles back to my car (not making eye contact with any hot guys of course). I was so mad I threw it out when I got home. The official write-up said it would not sweat off, and I do believe that Spirit does not sell items they don't test themselves. However, it must of been tested by girls who get a "glow" from sweating, and not on athletes. So I went back to Pratima skincare's Rose Neem Sunscreen (makes you skin pretty, i even use it at night before going out, balances oil production, and does not sweat off). SBL does not sell it. In this case the grass was just not greener.

More than sunscreen
December 22, 2012
My experience with this product has been a very happy one. It is a bit thick and hard to get out of the tube, but a little goes far. It does take some massaging in before it sinks into the skin, but that's just an opportunity for a nice facial massage! Once it is on, I don't even need concealer or foundation! I've found this cream to provide much more than sun protection, it is also an amazing primer. My pores are not an issue and even though I have oily skin it doesn't make me overly oily during the day but rather gives a nice healthy glow. I've never been one to wear sunscreen every day (especially in the cold months!) but this works so nicely on multiple levels that now I have a new sunscreen habit. I see that not all the other reviews are so positive, but I urge anyone to at least give this a try. It might be just what you are looking for.

Extremely effective, but unpleasant to use.
November 1, 2012
I have mixed feelings about this product. It is thick, sticky, and hard to spread, but once you put it on, it doesn't budge. I used it at the beach and water just beaded up on top of it, so I would definitely say that it is water-resistant. It makes a really lovely base for makeup, but I find it just feels too heavy to wear everyday. My husband hates how thick it is and really dislikes the way it leaves his skin feeling tacky. I'm afraid that for the price, I wouldn't buy it again.

I want to love this, but it leaves a white cast on my face and is super oily. I already have oily skin so by noon my face is a mess. Also its so thick it's hard to squeeze it out of the tube.

Great coverage if you must use sunscreen
October 5, 2012
Pros: Very efficacious
Cons: thick
I'm really, really pale and burn if I even think about the sun. This means I've tried all of the sunscreens that exist. Unfortunately, most of them are either too chemically (I also have sensitive skin) or don't work. This one works, but as others have mentioned, it's very thick and takes quite awhile to sink in.
I use it on my body when I NEED to be out in the sunshine without coverage. I try to wear light long sleeved shirts, sit in the shade, or wear a hat. But if I know I'm stuck, I'll use this. It works very well, and I can actually feel it blocking the rays - my skin gets much less hot when I'm wearing this.

A solid natural sunblock
August 22, 2012
Cons: so thick it's hard to squeeze through tube.
I originally purchased this sunblock for my Dad, but he complained that it was too greasy and left a white tint. After he abandoned it, I began using it. While it is a little greasy and does leave a tint, I found it to be a great makeup primer. On top of that it does a good job of protecting your skin from the sun. My biggest complaint is that it is SO HARD to get out of the bottle. The product is very thick, and the hole is so small, each morning I literally have to press the bottle between my bathroom counter and my hand. If it didn't have the packaging problem, I would have given it four stars.

A little goes a long way.
August 19, 2012
I tried this a little hesitantly, as it seemed like a big price tag for a little bottle! But I've been using vive sans all summer and have been very happy -- a little goes a long way! Plus, I haven't been burned. I recommend rubbing the sunscreen in your hands and dabbing them all over, so there's an even distribution of product. Then, rub it in. Rubbing a blob of it all over doesn't really work, as it's thicker and doesn't spread as easily as non-clean brands. Once you get the hang of it, it's wonderful. It also smells fantastic!

Pasty white
August 17, 2012
I really wanted to love this because I burn easily and wanted a natural product to protect my skin. However, I found it to be thick, greasy, and difficult to rub into the skin. I would realize later in the day that white patches were still on my skin-- embarrassing! I use Kiss My Face sunscreen instead, which isn't quite as pure, but is a third of the price and more lightweight.

Healthy skin sunscreen
August 12, 2012
Pros: skin clearing
, high spf
, concentrated
Cons: thick
I've been looking for a natural sunscreen for a while and this one is amazing. It is a little bit thick in texture, but it actually leaves my skin in better shape than when I am not using it. It also has a low water content so a little goes a long way!

In the Middle
August 11, 2012
The ingredients are fantastic and I feel this is a wonderful natural choice. I do have oily skin and in order for me to not feel all that greasy I have to use this as my moisturizer, which I don't mind. My major dislike is for some reason I makes my neck itch like crazy, I'm assuming I'm allergic to one of the ingredients. I also have a hard time getting it out of the tube and I really have to warm it up in my hands before I can apply it.
I'll finish it up, but I will be looking for a new SPF.

Yuckish... I felt soooo greasy!
August 6, 2012
Pros: Blocks harmful rays
Cons: Thick and greasy
, Messy, the white coating rubs off on everything
, VERY expensive for such a small amount
I have yet to find a natural sunblock that I really like, unfortunately this one is no exception. It's very thick, the consistency of diaper rash cream, and doesn't rub in very well. No matter how much I rubbed I could still see a layer of white on my skin, especially in the creases of my body: elbows, behind the knees, wrists, etc. As far as sunblocking properties, I do think it works to block out the rays, but only because it puts a thick coating over your skin. Awfully pricey for what you get :(

This was a rather thick cream as others have said, but it went on fine for me. And a little went a long way. I also like that it's 40 SPF--that's good coverage!

July 25, 2012
Sunscreen is a must where I live, and I'm always searching for a great, natural brand. This wasn't for me. It's quite thick and really hard to rub in. The whitish cast is tough to get rid of. It's way too heavy for the face. Also, it's expensive, which can lead to people not using enough. Never a good thing. So far nothing has beat Yes to Carrots moisturizer/sunblock.

Very heavy but doesn't budge
July 25, 2012
I tried a sample of this to wear on my face and chest during a summer morning run. I found it to be much too heavy. I think it would work best for drier skin, drier climates, and/or activities like swimming where you want protection that won't melt/rub off.

Love this Sunscreen
July 24, 2012
Not only does this sunscreen offer protection, it also has a tiny bit of shimmer to it that I find really pretty. You don't need much of this, although it is thick and requires a bit of work to spread it evenly. I use this just on the face as it is quite expensive.

Organic sunscreen that works!
July 23, 2012
Pros: moisturizing
, no need for a moisturizer
, does what it says as a sunscreen
Like what most people would think, yes, it will be really greasy but ONLY if you use too much of this. There seems to be a tendency to splatter loads of sunscreen (especially in a form of a lotion) to feel 'protected'. But with Viva Sana, the texture is really creamy so you only need the small-moderate amount depending on how you feel. It should not look greasy. I also feel that due to its superb ingredients, this can also act as a moisturizer alone!
Other thing that I love about this is that it's the only sunscreen that I have tried which won't leave me a white cast. Although the thick cream texture is a bit hard to spread, there is no white cast left.
Lastly, I put this on before I went swimming in the summer, and it did what it said!

The Best! My Daily Facial Sunscreen
July 4, 2012
I switched to this sunscreen over a year ago when I discovered Spirit Beauty Lounge. I am 38 years old with fair skin, and have always been very oily, very acne prone, and sensitive. The trick with this sunscreen is that you need VERY little. Too much and it becomes an oil bath (or just spread it out onto arms, chest, etc...) but the right amount and any white haze disappears almost immediately and any oiliness goes right away, too. I usually add an extra dab around my nascent crows feet a couple of times through the day to keep that area moistened and protected. This seems to work beautifully whether I use it over a million layers of skin care, or by itself.
I'm just back from a week of rafting the Grand Canyon. I was in the sun constantly. I always wore a hat, but it was an intense week of sun nonetheless, and lots of splashing, and this sunscreen saved my face during the trip. And I can now attest to this sunscreen's water resistant features!

Works, But Broke Me Out
June 15, 2012
Pros: Worked for sun protection
I think it's a bit too greasy for hot summer days. It also feels really thick on the skin. I brought it on a trip to Florida and it broke me out. Many people say it doesn't though, so give it a try. Definitely worked in protecting me from the sun.
